DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

Balancing Acceptance and Change

DBT is a structured, highly effective therapy designed to help you work with your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors instead of against them. Rather than running away from difficult experiences, DBT equips you with concrete tools to shift your responses and feel emotions safely.

DBT focuses on four core pillars, which I tailor to your unique life circumstances:

Mindfulness: The grounded ability to stay anchored in the present moment, often using one of the 5 senses. I blend this with principles from MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction)

Interpersonal Effectiveness: Building, maintaining, and protecting healthy, boundaried relationships with others
Emotion Regulation: Learning how to stabilize, understand, and cope with intense moods or feelings

Distress Tolerance: Managing painful feelings and crises that cannot be immediately changed, utilizing the transformative skill of Radical Acceptance
